1. Introduction of The Big Elk Statue
Linda Bakke, born in 1973, is a Norwegian contemporary artist. A graduate of the Bergen Academy of Art and Design, she has long been dedicated to sculpture, painting, photography, and public art. Bakke’s artistic style is known for its site-specific nature; her works are often closely connected to their surroundings, emphasizing the interaction between art, nature, and society. Her famous «Storelgen» (also known as the «The Big Elk Statue») is a large-scale public art installation completed in 2015.
This steel deer sculpture, crafted from polished stainless steel, realistically portrays the majestic physique of a moose, its massive, palm-shaped antlers extending outwards with imposing grandeur. The flowing lines of the work outline the moose’s strong body and the awe-inspiring presence of its broad, paw-shaped antlers. This The Big Elk Statue is not only a public artwork but also a symbol of traffic safety, reminding drivers to be aware of wild animals. Arturban Sculpture offers custom stainless steel animal sculptures. Contact us for more details.
