1. Introduction of Statue of Make Way for Ducklings

Nancy Schön is a famous American sculptor known for her vivid and expressive animal sculptures. One of her masterpieces is  Statue of Make Way for Ducklings, which has been placed in Boston Public Garden since 1987 and has become an important landmark in the city. The sculpture reproduces the duck family in Robert McCloskey’s classic children’s book Make Way for Ducklings. In her works, animals are not only the carriers of art, but their relationship and interaction with humans are often an important way for her to express her ideas.

This set of Duck Family Garden Statues is a scene of a mother duck walking on the road with eight ducklings. The mother duck in the Statue of Make Way for Ducklings holds her head high and walks steadily, showing leadership, while the eight ducklings follow closely behind, with different steps, showing their dependence on their mother. The whole sculpture is lifelike, and each duck is finely carved, with the texture of the feathers, the dynamics and posture of the head accurately reproduced.
