1. Introduction of Coach Statue
Don Requa (May 26, 1919 – August 12, 1987) was one of the most influential high school football coaches in Oregon, USA. He coached the Pendleton High School football team from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. During his 30-year teaching career, he led the team to the state playoffs 23 times, and became the high school coach with the most wins in Oregon at the time with a record of 273 wins, 86 losses and 5 ties. In 1985, he was named Oregon High School Coach of the Year, and after his death he was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame (1992) and the National High School Coaches Hall of Fame (1997). This bronze Coach Statue built in memory of Don Requa highly restores his image on the court.
In the sculpture, Don Requa wears a coach’s hat, a loose training suit, a whistle hanging on his chest, and holds the football steadily in both hands, with a solemn and thoughtful expression. The facial depiction is detailed, showing his mature, calm and responsible demeanor. The entire Coach Statue is presented in a realistic style and is of great commemorative and educational significance. Arturban Sculpture can customize various memorial statues.
