1. Introduction of Woman of Words Statue
“Woman of Words” is a public art sculpture located in Midland Park, Wellington, New Zealand. Created by New Zealand artist Virginia King in 2013, it commemorates the renowned author Katherine Mansfield. Born in 1888, Mansfield was a key figure in modernist short stories, known for her delicate psychological descriptions and unique narrative style. Her representative works include “The Garden Tea Party” and “Happiness.” The Woman of Words Statue presents the author as a female figure, combining literary text with the human form, reflecting her important position in New Zealand literary history.
This “Woman of Words” Statue is made of stainless steel and stands approximately 3.3 meters tall. The figure in this Woman of Words Statue has short, shoulder-length hair, wears a long top and a wide skirt, and stands upright with arms hanging naturally at her sides, presenting an elegant posture. The most unique design element is the English text covering the entire sculpture, taken from Mansfield’s diaries and literary works, laser-cut and integrated into the metal surface. The skirt features a narrow top and wide bottom design, with densely arranged text and curved metal plates creating a three-dimensional silhouette. Arturban Sculpture can customize various stainless steel sculptures. Please contact us for more details.
