1. Introduction of Giant Durian Sculpture
This sculpture series primarily depicts the whole durian fruit and its cut-out form, showcasing the distinctive appearance of this tropical fruit through magnified proportions. The complete version features a full, oval outline with densely packed, similarly sized, cone-shaped spikes on the surface, topped with a short, thick stem, giving it the appearance of a ripe durian. The cut-out version opens the shell vertically, revealing two plump, yellow segments of flesh on the front, while retaining the light-colored inner membrane and shell structure in the middle, with spikes continuously arranged along the edge. Different Giant Durian Sculptures use yellow-green, olive green, or brownish-yellow treatments on the shell color to represent the color changes of the durian as it grows and ripens.
The works are made of fiberglass, which facilitates the creation of large curved surfaces, dense spikes, and natural wrinkles on the flesh surface.
